We can't picture our lives without water, and we know what is going to kill us when we don't have it near us....well dehydration. Water has its own advantages. These advantages shall include:
- Flushing out all the stagnated toxins of our body
- regulation of our body temperature
- It acts as a medium for all the functions taking place in our body
- It prevents constipation
- It cleans out all the excess products appearing in our body due to generous intake of certain food items.
We are always asked to drink lots of water for every single thing. When we get pimple....'Drink more water', When we get flatulated....'Drink more water'.
Well 'drinking more water' is consistently not beneficial. We should drink an adequate sum regularly i.e., 2-5litres. More water won't advantage us rather work the contrary way. The salt and mineral concentration required by our body to perform substantially gets destabilized when we overdrink water. It causes a condition called Hyponatremia. This establishes low levels of sodium in our body which is a dangerous condition. Very low sodium levels may lead to conditions such as coma, muscle spasms, cramps, dizziness.
What may Overhydration do to us?
Excessive water intake is called Overhydration. This is generally seen in people undergoing excessive exercise sessions, sportsperson, cyclists, athletes and hikers. This may even lead to heart failure and kidney malfunction.
Kidney malfunctions occurs because we overload the kidneys with huge excess of water. It is not able to process so much water and release it out hence overworking of the kidneys leads to renal failure. The water retention in the blood due to large amount of water intake leads to increase in the amount of blood which creates a pressure on the heart.
What causes Overhydration?

- Anti-inflammatory drugs
- liver diseases
- Kidney diseases
There are certain drugs which may cause us to feel more thirsty more often and then increase our water intake rate. these drugs include
- Antidiuretics
